WELCOME NEW NURSES!

WOW! IT'S A GREAT TIME TO BE A NURSE!

A Message from Dr. Lynn Wieck

I like student nurses. I’ve been one! I remember the joy and pain, the elation and the misery, the ups and downs, the hopes and fears. Being a student nurse is different from any other higher education endeavor – I am sure of it! Student nurses want to make good grades, have some fun, learn a lot, and get ready for life – so do most college students. But student nurses are doing something else – they are committing themselves to joyfully enter into situations where other peoples’ lives will be in their hands.

Having the power of touching lives is truly awesome. If we actually pondered the responsibility, we would probably wonder at our sanity. But nurses are one of the few special groups who make a difference in people’s lives every single day. What an honor and what a responsibility. For that reason, I am devoting this WOW! section to students nurses. Each week a short informational brief will be found on this page. It will contain information about what is happening in professional nursing as well as an affirmation to nursing students that what they are doing is important and worthwhile. I firmly believe:

WOW, there has never been a better time to be a nurse!

Thank you for being a nurse. Thank you for choosing to make a difference. This page will contain information to help you be a better nurse. This page will present new ideas for entrepreneurial opportunities as you move into your professional role and will offer suggestions on how to prepare for them and how to implement new ideas. Sometimes, we will have guest writers who will give you ideas and insights about specialty areas. The briefs will be short, entertaining and informative. So, WOW, watch for it! You are the stars, you are the future. Thank you for choosing a career in nursing.

Respectfully,

Lynn
